Welcome to Haslet Texas
Haslet, like other Texas settlements in the mid 1800’s, evolved from a small group of families into a working settlement as a result of cattle raising and expanding railroads. The first families were on barren tracts of land 15 miles north of Fort Worth, the present site of Haslet. The cattle of choice were short horn Durham cattle. By 1872, there were only two or three families who lived in the area of Haslet, but there were not enough children in the community to form a school. By 1879 however, Haslet finally planned its first school, and with the help from a $150 donation, Blue Mound school was erected.
Haslet is a major intermodal hub and has an excellent transportation and distribution network due to its highways, railways and airport. The City of Haslet wants to provide its residents and visitors with a safe, small town rural setting. The City of Haslet is fully dedicated to it’s award-winning Northwest Independent School District, and is also dedicated to maintaining a low crime rate and highly trained fire department, all of which make the city attractive for current and new families. Moreover, the Texas Economic Development Council recently awarded the City of Haslet the Certificate of Achievement for Economic Excellence for their commitment to professional economic development.
The mission of the Haslet’s Economic Development Council is to expand its property base to provide working families a popular destination in which to live and work, while still maintaining it’s small town feel and rural culture.
