Welcome to The “M” Streets of Dallas
You’re probably wondering “why the letter M?” Well, the area is known as the “M” Streets due to two major streets, McCommas and Monticello, and many of the minor streets also starting with the letter M. In fact, M Streets is just a nickname. The area was originally named Greenland Hills when the land was developed as a planned community in the 1920s, and Greenland Hills is still the official and correct name of this neighborhood. Since many of the homes were built between 1920 and 1970, the result was a historic neighborhood that makes it seem like you’re taking a trip back in time when the Tudor architectural style was popular. Many homes had stained glass windows, arches, and hardwood floors. Built on rolling hills, the neighborhood incorporated strict architectural guidelines.
The location of the M Streets neighborhood is in east Dallas, between downtown Dallas and White Rock Lake. The neighborhood’s boundaries are from Central Expressway to Skillman, McCommas Avenue to the north and Vanderbilt to the south. Eight decades of architectural design have been fit together in this section of Dallas, making life more exiting in the M Streets with boutique shops, restaurants, art galleries, White Rock Lake, Victory Park, Greenville Avenue nightlife, the iconic landmark Granada Theater and other exciting places throughout the neighborhood. It’s a very unique and exciting lifestyle that you can’t find in the suburbs. It’s just a little more exiting living here, and it could not have come together without the perfect blend of hip culture, distinct architecture and unique lifestyles.
